The Thoughts & Memories
Thoughts & Memories is a series of paintings and sculptures reflecting the feelings of uncertainty and isolation brought on by the lockdowns during 2020. In Norse mythology, Huginn (thought) and Muninn (memory or mind) are a pair of ravens that fly all over the world, and bring information to the Viking god Odin. I found myself using the ravens and their feathers as a symbol of my thoughts and memories ~ as a way to reconnect with my family. My aim is to collect these thoughts and memories, keep them safe, and present them to the viewer as a set of circumstances that can unfold in various directions. I hope that my work acts as a starting point of departure, encouraging the viewer connect, interact, and ultimately create their own narrative.
