FROM THE GROUND UP XXIX, a Juried Show at the Museum of Art of Las Cruces, NM.

Hebé García awarded 3rd place for her piece “Conversaciones en silencio”.

The series “Conversaciones en silencio” gives weight to what our silence can mean under different circumstances. Composer Conni Ellisor states: “All things begin and end in silence. All things are contained in silence. And it follows that our silent conversations of the heart are some of our loudest”. García collects these conversations and presents the viewer with a set of circumstances that can unfold in various directions. She wants her work to act as a point of departure, encouraging the viewer to connect, interact, and ultimately create their own narrative.
