ABOUT THE ARTIST

Sunlight reflecting off the stucco walls of San Juan and the ochre mesas of Abiquiú has quietly shaped my art over the years. I am a figurative artist who works primarily in oil painting and ceramic sculpture. Born in Miami and raised in San Juan, Puerto Rico, I have always felt deeply influenced by the vibrant city life and the ever-present tropical light. Now living in Abiquiú, New Mexico, I am grateful to be surrounded by sweeping desert vistas, dramatic skies, and the Southwest's rich cultural history. My work attempts to bring together these varied landscapes, forming a visual language rooted in both my Caribbean heritage and my adopted high desert home.

Building on these influences, my palette blends Puerto Rico's lush, saturated colors with New Mexico's muted, earthy tones. This fusion is the foundation for my ongoing effort to study human emotion. Through my art, I try to explore the interplay between inner feeling and external reality, hoping to invite viewers to reflect on their own experiences. Each painting and sculpture is simply a window into the emotions that define our existence, whether it be joy, longing, resilience, or hope. I pay close attention to gesture, posture, and texture in the hope that viewers can connect with the universal emotions in my work, making each piece both personal and communal.

This dialogue between landscapes and emotions has quietly shaped my career as well. I have been fortunate to exhibit my work at venues such as Nest Gallery in Abiquiú, NOSA Restaurant in Ojo Caliente, NM, several locations in San Antonio, TX, and Pamil Fine Arts in Río Piedras, PR. My work is also included in the permanent collection of the Museo de Arte Francisco Oller de Bayamón in Puerto Rico, which I consider a great honor. Through my art, I hope to encourage dialogue and understanding, bridging cultures and connecting human experiences. My journey is ongoing, and the convergence of places, memories, and emotions continually inspires me.
